Steps towards a seamless integration of Laser Scans into a closed loop BIM process
Paul Burrows (Scanning Solutions Manager at Hexagon's Geosystems division)

(Presentation language: English)
22 September 2021 | 15.00 – 16.00

Building Information Management (BIM) is the process of generating and managing digital representations of physical places or buildings. One of the main challenges of BIM is the establishment of a real closed feedback loop that ensures that digital data is always up to date with real world conditions. While laser scanning has made big progress over the last few years, the process of feeding scanning data into the BIM process can still be cumbersome, requiring a lot of manual interaction. New approaches are now showing a path towards making this process more autonomous. Providing a seamless integration of laser scanning into the process unlocks the potential to increase the value of BIM.

Germany's Digital Twin
Jürgen Dold (President Hexagon GSI)

(Presentation language: German)
22 September 2021 | 15.00 – 16.00

What if innovative fused-sensor technologies could create a 3D digital mirror image of all of Germany in a consistent, precise and cost-effective way? What if a cloud-based visualisation and collaboration platform could link this digital twin to real-time data and yield further insights through simulations? What if this information could be made available to everyone? Then Germany's digitalisation could take a top position worldwide. A unified digital twin of Germany, which is available to governmental and private actors at all levels, enables exploiting the full potential of digitisation. Hexagon can make fundamental contributions to Germany's digital twin and is happy to report on innovative solutions for creating, updating and leveraging digital mirror worlds.
