Dr. Jürgen Dold presents the technological progress in creating and updating digital mirror worlds, which contribute substantially to the Digital Twin of Germany. The Digital Twin of Germany project started in 2021 with a pilot in the Hamburg metropolitan region. The first Germany-wide land use maps for industrial applications were generated from a consistent aerial image dataset provided using AI methods.

Germany's Digital Twin forms the backbone for the sustainable development of Smart Cities and Smart Nation. The Digital Twin is an excellent basis for a future-oriented digital transformation of Germany. The Digital Twin of Germany serves as a central tool for a wide range of organisations, administrative units and authorities responsible for spatial planning, public safety, crisis and disaster management, precision agriculture, forest and water management, and environmental protection.

INVENTORY OF RAILWAY LINES WITH REALITY CAPTURE SYSTEMS

This short lecture covers the inventory of railway lines with reality capture systems, including various steps of the laser scanning and reality capture workflows. Terrestrial laser scanners, for example the Leica RTC360, precisely capture the position of the tracks, the cant and the gauge. Learn how to register, process and measure the point cloud and to create a digital twin. This 3D image of the current state of the railway track accelerates project process and can be used for visualisations, further processing in CAD software, new planning and rescheduling.
