The need to accelerate digitalisation in the construction industry remains a strong driver for the adoption of reality capture techniques in construction processes. The potential quality, productivity and hence costs gains are enormous, provided a seamless integration of the different stages of the workflow is ensured. These stages include fast and simple ways of capturing and preparing data, sharing big amounts of data in efficient ways for collaborative work and the creation of meaningful deliverables in the field and in the office. The benefits of applying smart integrated end-to-end reality capture workflows for digital construction will be discussed using real-world examples.

Insufficient documentation on a BIM project can lead to constructability issues, which lead to change orders, costly rework and schedule delays. Whether you want to capture the surrounding infrastructure for a new design project or plan to renovate existing infrastructure, capturing the as-is environment before construction starts is essential. Only then it is possible to accurately visualise existing conditions and make informed decisions in the design phase to minimise expensive changes at a later stage. With end-to-end digital solutions to transfer the BIM data from the office to the field accurately, and in real-time, reduces rework and improves quality on construction sites. The benefits of applying smart integrated end-to-end digital solutions using BIM will be discussed using real examples from the construction industry.

When sensor, software and autonomous technologies converge, an exact digital replica of a physical world, such as a city’s infrastructure, results. At Hexagon, this replica is known as a Smart Digital Reality™, a space where all associated things, places and processes within it are machine-readable and subject to the power of algorithms. Before an urban space can become a Smart City, it must become digitally accessible, infinitely connected and autonomously connected.
HxDR is Hexagon‘s cloud-based visualisation and collaboration platform for spatial data and services. It is a space where the concepts that transform the way we live are placed within accurate digital representations of the real world.
In this presentation, we will explore how reality capture technologies are turning entire cityscapes into 3D models, from above, on the ground and beneath the surface. Then discover how those 3D models are fused into an entire urban ecosystem that can draw and act on data from multiple sources, making unaided decisions to become smarter and smarter over time, providing the ultimate form of data leverage.
With an in-depth look at the latest innovations and drawing on insights from real-world case studies, this forward-thinking presentation delivers the knowledge needed today to create the Smart Cities of tomorrow.
