Leica Geosystems acquires snow management technology
alpinePRO offers premiere management solution for ski slope infrastructure
(Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 21 June 2018) – Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, industry leader of measurement technology, announced today it has acquired all research and development and copyrights to its snow operations and management solution, alpinePRO.
The ski slope management solution was developed in conjunction with Geocloud AG Schlieren Switzerland. The two organisations have concluded an agreement giving ownership of alpinePRO to Leica Geosystems. Together with Leica iCONalpine 3D Snow Depth Measurement System, alpinePRO forms a part of the Leica Alpine Solution.
“Bringing the complete product development into Leica Geosystems’ Machine Control Division enables a concept-to-delivery approach that provides our customers with a comprehensive and beneficial service relationship,” said Johan Arnberg, Leica Geosystems Machine Control Division president.
Advancing snow management through open platforms
alpinePRO is a powerful tool for snow management and operational activities. Detailed analyses allow for planning and efficient allocation of personnel, vehicles, water and energy. Furthermore, alpinePRO is able to perform calculations and provide data in the background via interfaces.
Leica Geosystems is now working on further developments of alpinePRO. One of the strategic aims is to open the platform for connection to third party systems, such as snow making systems, snow management systems of other manufacturers and lift manufacturers.
“The modularly built, cloud-based software can optimally be adjusted to meet our customers’ personal specifications. The intuitive mobile app for the exchange of information and tasks between office and personnel on the slopes is improving and expanding with new functionalities,” said Lukas Ingold, Leica Geosystems Machine Control Division Solution Manager for Alpine. “Our main focus is to supply a platform that is open to any needs related to snow and all applications that require geo-positioning in ski resorts.”
