Power Grid is India’s largest electric power transmission utility, and it has consistently been rated “Excellent” under the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Power since 1993.
The organisation is responsible for every phase of the power supply process:
- Land specs
- Tower installations
- Energy distribution
- Power lines maintenance
The mission of Power Grid is “to ensure development of an efficient, coordinated and economical system of interstate transmission lines for smooth flow of electricity from generating stations to load centres.”
Power Grid uses total stations and theodolites to capture the measurements they need in the field. The company has used Leica Geosystems for the past decade to collect data that helps ensure the safety parameters of electric supply towers are met and preventative maintenance is scheduled. These steps are invaluable in an industry where lives and livelihoods are at stake.
