What’s New: Smarter GeoTags for Modern Reality Capture

Customisable GeoTags for Better Project Visibility: Now our end-to-end software solution supports fully customisable Categories and Values, giving users complete control over how assets are labeled and prioritised. Each category can include multiple values, each with its own color, making it easy to highlight what matters most.

This delivers clear benefits across industries:

• Facility & Asset Management: Organise equipment by type, condition, priority, or required maintenance.
• Forensics: Tag evidence by type, importance, or processing priority.
• Surveying & Construction: Flag issues, approvals, checkpoints, or safety hazards to streamline project reviews. 

Teams can, for example, establish a Fire Safety category with reusable values like “Fire Extinguisher – CO₂” or “Emergency Exit,” ensuring consistent labeling throughout a project.

Unlimited Attachments in a Single GeoTag: Each GeoTag now supports unlimited photos, videos, voice notes, and files, eliminating the need to create multiple tags for one asset. This keeps all relevant information unified, reduces redundancy, and makes it easier to track changes or inspections over time. A primary thumbnail image can be selected to help users visually identify important assets at a glance.

Instant Preview of Key Information: A new GeoTag preview interface offers quick, at‑a‑glance insight. With a single tap, users can see key information inside the GeoTag, including attachments, categories, values, and thumbnails without entering edit mode. This improves field efficiency, speeds up verification, and supports more confident decision‑making during fast‑paced inspections.

End‑to‑End Continuity: Field → Office → Cloud

One of the biggest advances in the updated workflow is lossless data continuity across the Leica Geosystems reality capture ecosystem.GeoTags and their metadata travel seamlessly through every step of the workflow.

In the Field - Cyclone FIELD 360

Users can create Categories, assign Values, attach images, and capture structured asset information in context. All GeoTag data is embedded in the project and automatically transfers during import to desktop applications for registration and preparation.

In the Office - Cyclone REGISTER 360 PLUS

All Categories, Values, links, and attachments import automatically. There are no special steps required. Users can refine, correct, or expand metadata during registration. For example, an extinguisher originally tagged as “Fire Extinguisher – Powder” can be updated to “Fire Extinguisher – CO₂,” and an inspection result can be logged as “OK / Verified.”

Cyclone REGISTER 360 PLUS then publishes the fully enriched dataset to LGSx, preserving the entire data structure.

In the Cloud - Hexagon GeoCloud

After uploading the LGSx file, users can view, edit, and extend GeoTags collaboratively. New Categories can be created directly in the cloud, inspection statuses can be updated, and team members can refine information without needing to re‑export from desktop software.

GeoCloud unifies the workflow: what was captured once in the field can be enhanced in the office, updated in the cloud, and even streamed into Leica CloudWorx plugins for advanced Scan‑to‑Model or Scan‑to‑Verify workflows.
