Valeshka Rodrigues - A passionate driver of smart change

To recognise the faces of smart change, we interviewed Valeshka Rodrigues, Office Manager based in Dubai for Leica Geosystems, to share with us her work-life balance, career lessons, fun facts and more.

What is your role at Leica Geosystems and for how long you have been working with the company?
Office Manager based in Dubai since December 2007.

How has Leica Geosystems helped you in your career development?
Leica Geosystems has helped me and entrusted me with new and greater challenges, and has always enhanced my professional experience.

What do you enjoy most about working at Leica Geosystems?
Leica Geosystems has a good reputation – its successful strategies and values would make everyone want to work for such a company. What I most enjoy is the wonderful and challenging working environment where you are respected and what you do really matters and is appreciated.

How do you balance your career at Leica Geosystems, and your personal life?
I feel organising is the best way to balance life and work. When I am at work I focus on my tasks, I evaluate my daily activities and set priorities to enjoy a work-life balance.

What are the career lessons that you have learned so far working at Leica Geosystems?
One important thing I have learned is that as you grow up in your position responsibility keeps increasing, however, the determination and willingness to work hard and a desire to excel in everything I do have really made my work gratifying.

How do you define success?
Success is knowing I've contributed in a significant way in doing my job well and knowing that my work is adding value to the company and my team members.

What advice do you have for prospective Hexagon Geosystems candidates?
Be passionate about your work with a genuine interest. Hard work will lead you to succeed.

What does true leadership mean to you?
Leadership does not only mean taking the lead but also encouraging team members to contribute and being valued equally. Leadership is about listening, inspiring and empowering.
