Operated by Grupo Mexico subsidiary, Southern Peru Copper Corporation, Cuajone and Toquepala are among the biggest copper mines in the world. They are also among the most efficient. Southern Peru is applying Hexagon Mining technology with outstanding results.

 

While IDS GeoRadar radar and Leica Geosystems total stations monitor slope stability, Hexagon Mining planning suite, MineSight, and fleet management system, Jigsaw, help Southern Peru to achieve among the lowest production costs in the world.

 

From Q4 2015 to Q4 2016, Southern Peru:

  • Increased operating performance (EBITDA) by 90.6 per cent

  • Increased net income by 182.7 per cent

  • Decreased operating cash cost per pound of copper by 14.2 per cent to 95 cents, making it the highest margin major copper producer in the world.
