Leica Geosystems´ HDS University positions laser scanning professionals for increased success

Practical hands-on courses led by expert instructors provide valuable training in high-demand skill sets.

NORCROSS, GA Leica Geosystems today announced the launch of HDS University, a new hands-on educational opportunity for professionals seeking to advance their skills in the growing field of laser scanning/High-Definition Surveying (HDS). During a three-day session October 25-27, 2016, HDS University will bring the most popular courses in laser scanning hardware and software to professionals at the Leica Geosystems Americas region headquarters near Atlanta.

Classes will run two to four hours in length and cover topics such as topographic field and office workflows for laser scanning, intermediate registration techniques, using and maximizing groups in registration, using Leica CloudWorx for AutoCAD with Civil3D, using 3D Reshaper, Cyclone tips and tricks, and laser scanning for forensics. In partnership with the University of Arkansas, Leica Geosystems is offering continuing education unit (CEU) credits on most HDS University classes. A limited number of one-on-one consulting sessions with Leica HDS experts are also available on October 24 and 28 for a nominal additional fee.

“Demand for expertise in specific areas of laser scanning is so high that we’ve had to expand our course offering at our annual HxGN LIVE conference over the last several years, and many classes still fill up early,” said Michael Harvey, HDS product applications manager. “At the same time, we’ve heard from a number of professionals who have been unable to attend HxGN LIVE due to either timing or location. Bringing HDS University to Norcross in October is another way for us to support the industry and advance best practices in laser scanning.”

An early registration discount is available to those who sign up for their courses by September 30. To browse the complete list of courses or to register online, visit http://leica.gs/hdsu.
