Leica Geosystems’ GNSS networks now support Galileo, QZSS

New Leica Spider v7.0 supports all existing GNSS

(Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 16 June 2017) Leica Geosystems, industry leader in measurement technology, released Leica Spider v7.0 software suite, supporting Galileo and QZSS constellations as well as the GPS-L5 signal for improved network RTK correction services.

Spider v7.0 now supports all known GNSS - GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and also QZSS.

The all-in-one solution offers professionals from various industries, such as surveying, mapping, agriculture or GIS, improved positioning accuracy and correction service. Professionals can now increase productivity while they operate reliably in environments with obstructions, like urban canyons, or at high latitudes, due to the higher number of usable satellites from multiple GNSS constellations.

“With the addition of Galileo in the new version of Spider, we can offer our customers even more value,” said Andreas Berweger, service operations engineer at refnet Switzerland. “With this additional coverage, our customers will benefit from increased satellite visibility and enhanced productivity in the field.”

Network operation securely manageable via web portal

For the first time, all important GNSS network information is available in one convenient and easy-to-access web user interface. The Leica Spider Business Center web portal combines all the elements to efficiently operate the infrastructure, including user and access management and network and rover status monitoring.

In the simplest way possible and without a need for in-depth knowledge of GNSS technology, the web portal makes GNSS post-processing positioning available to more users. Spider v7.0 extends this portal with online coordinate computation service, giving quick access to high precise positions without the need of specific training.

"Our goal with this new version is to incorporate the latest developments into our solution to continue our history of pioneering in GNSS,” said Markus Roland, product manager for GNSS Networks and Reference Stations. “We strive to deliver reliable productivity improvements for our customers. With the new Spider v7.0, customer benefits are tangible and quality is ensured."
