Case study semi-automatic excavator for SEM

Machine rental company SEM can now offer semi-automatic functionality to their machine fleet.

Allan Bonde Christiansen from SEM

Learn more about how business owner Allan Bonde Christiansen from the machine rental company SEM can benefit by adding semi-automatic functionality for excavators to the machine fleet.

Allan Bonde Christiansen explains that the advantage is that a beginner operator can use the semi-automatic functionality to do fine grading jobs with acceptable tolerances. The biggest challenge with traditional 3D machine control can be solved by adding the semi-automatic functionality. The operator normally has to focus on the bucket’s two corners and the two height indicators on the machine control panel. It is therefore difficult to keep focus. With the semi-automatic excavator, the bucket follows the height all the way. The semi-automatic functionality works by activating a button on the joystick and gently pulling the joystick back. The machine will automatically find the right point, and the grading will be made according to the design.
