Leica TerrainMapper-2 flexible linear-mode LiDAR sensor

Modular and scalable airborne mapping solutions for complex LiDAR projects

Leica TerrainMapper-2 LiDAR Sensor

The Leica TerrainMapper-2 is the latest linear-mode LiDAR airborne sensor providing the highest performance for regional mapping projects. Thanks to gateless MPiA, the sensor system delivers outstanding accuracy, unmatched point density and even point distribution even in mountainous terrain. The system is designed to offer the maximum flexibility for all applications from narrow-swath corridors to high altitude applications over complex and changing environments for the delivery of highest fidelity data.

The TerrainMapper-2 includes a 2 MHz LiDAR sensor combined with two nadir 150 MP cameras in RGB and NIR. With the integration of the most innovative optical system on the market this new LiDAR sensor delivers high quality images with every flight. Even during long collection days and low sun angles, the integrated camera will keep up with the LiDAR.

Seamlessly upgradable for urban mapping

The sensor can easily be upgraded with four additional oblique cameras turning the system into a 3D city mapping machine. This configuration is known as the Leica CityMapper-2. The unique modularity offers users a long-term upgrade path as their our business continues to grow.

High-performance

With 2 MHz pulse repetition frequency and sensitivity collection optics, Leica TerrainMapper-2 increases data collection rate versus flying height, allowing you to fly larger swaths for any given point density. Achieve more efficient flight planning and even point distribution for flying heights from 300 - 5,500 m AGL with up to 35 pulses in the air and with no range gate limitations.

Rapid data delivery

TerrainMapper-2 uses Leica HxMap to process the data. The high-performance, multi-sensor workflow features the industry’s fastest data throughput and allows processing of LiDAR and imaging data in one intuitive user interface with all the tools you need for calibration, colourisation, quality assurance, project reporting and product generation.

Masters complex terrain

TerrainMapper-2 reflects the continued evolution of the TerrainMapper sensor series, the most accurate and flexible linear-mode LiDAR. The new system delivers USGS LiDAR quality Level 0 data from 2 km altitude. Delivering 5 cm accuracy at greater flying heights allow high collection efficiencies, even in complex and changing terrain.

A natural next step

RealTerrain is the result of Leica Geosystems’ many years of expertise in airborne LiDAR sensing, driving the evolution and constant improvement of both linear-mode and single photon LiDAR. We now offer highly competitive LiDAR technologies as the logical next step in the advancement of our hybrid sensor road map.
