Leica DISTO D810 touch awarded twice for innovation
Leica Geosystems has been awarded with the GaLaBau Innovation Medal 2014 for its innovative Leica DISTO ™ D810 touch. The "Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e.V. (Federal Association for Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Fields Construction) presents this award for new and advanced solutions that significantly improve processes on landscape gardening sites. The Leica DISTO™ D810 touch also placed second in the category of "Best Product" for this year's Wichmann Innovation Award.
Leica Geosystems leads the way with its innovative products in the field of gardening and landscaping at the 21st GaLaBau, the international trade fair for designing, planning, constructing and maintaining of urban green and free space, that took place in Nuremberg, Germany, by winning the GaLaBau Innovation Medal 2014. With the Leica DISTO™ D810 touch, Leica Geosystems won one of 19 innovation medals awarded this year, competing successfully with 133 products.
Convincingly easy-to-use
The GaLaBau specialists jury for innovations chose Leica DISTO™ D810 touch for being "the first laser distance metre with touch screen, which enables fast and intuitive operation" as for being "an innovative solution for measuring, documenting and communicating. Thanks to its camera function, the Leica DISTO™ D810 touch allows users to create images and precisely measure distances within them. In addition, this data can be digitally processed."
Part of the award's evaluation process requires that a product must be a completely new development, not comparable with any previously known product or it must be a significant development of a proven product. In addition, the product must simplify or improve the organisation's workflows and processes as well as increase and substantially improve the quality of work and workers' performance on landscaping construction sites from an ecological standpoint.
Wichmann Innovations Award
The Leica DISTO™ D810 touch also convinced the jury of the Wichmann Innovations Award 2014 awarded by the Wichmann Verlag in Offenbach, Germany. In a decision of both jury and audience, the laser distance metre won second place. At INTERGEO 2014, the Wichmann Innovations Award acknowledged products and solutions according to the criteria innovation, user-friendliness and practicality.
