The tool compares as-built conditions captured through reality capture with the original design models. BIM Inspection can be performed in the office or in the field using Cyclone 3DR Touch Mode for Windows tablets.

Better still, recent AI enhancements have significantly improved the accuracy and efficiency of the Progress Monitoring workflow. Users are now guided to incorporate an initial Point Cloud Classification based on an updated version of the Indoor Construction Site Model.
This means less manual verification work and creates an almost automatic experience from analysis to final report delivery, saving valuable time for project teams. Moreover, this additional AI step does not decrease the computation performance compared to the regular analysis.

Clash Analysis - conflict detection and resolution

Clash Analysis in Cyclone 3DR provides a systematic approach to identifying potential clashes between models before they become costly field issues. The analysis automatically generates a report that lists each detected clash, helping teams prioritise and address conflicts efficiently. Users can adjust tolerance settings, cluster distances, and filtering parameters to match their specific preferences and the project specifications, reducing false positives.
Clash Analysis is best performed on specific objects in isolation, rather than running an analysis on hundreds or thousands of objects at once. This generates a manageable number of clashes.
The Results section allows users to review each identified clash individually. After verification, clashes are colour-coded as green, orange, or red on the point cloud to show their resolution status.
Visual Notes - simple, but powerful
When comparing a point cloud and BIM model, advanced analysis tools are helpful, but basic comparisons are often all that’s needed.
Visual Notes is an analysis feature that automatically builds a report based on a visual inspection of the model in Cyclone 3DR.
Unlike other BIM tools, there is no algorithm involved. Users simply attach notes to specific objects, take basic 2D measurements, and then export a report in one click.
Each note can contain a variety of information, including the GUID of the BIM object, a description of the issue, and screenshots. It can then be assigned to a specific user with a priority level and sent to their email address.
The feature provides a simple way for users to report larger issues that a BIM Inspection colourmap might not explain. For example, significant gaps between a design model and the as-built reality, such as if a doorway is completely missing. The strength of Cyclone 3DR is its powerful reporting capacity: once all the notes are created, the report is automatically pre-filled and just a couple of verification actions is required to finalize the delivery of the comparison conclusion.
