What to expect at the school...

The Leica Training School performs as a microsite, replicating specific stages and environments of a construction site. Modern and fully furnished classrooms provide comfortable spaces for detailed theory presentations. Located in close proximity to the training rooms are dedicated zones, created to reproduce aspects of real-world conditions allowing for the hands-on training. This provides a better learning experience of both theory and practical from our qualified trainers.

The main building is fully equipped with wi-fi and comfortable presentation spaces. A seminar room has generous space for larger groups, with a projector, lectern, meeting tables and seating for up to 40 people. Two smaller, more traditional classrooms have large HD screens and are ideal for smaller groups of up to 8 people.

The Detection Zone

This purpose-built practical area is fully customisable enabling us to recreate the experiences of using Cable Avoidance equipment in different site conditions. It is a safe, secure, and inclusive training environment designed to optimise and achieve the very best learning outcomes in a relaxed and pressure free environment.

Our site can recreate all signals required to train on using the equipment correctly and safely and we can also recreate many of the limitations that can influence the accuracy and reliability of pinpointing buried utilities for avoidance purposes, thus making this site unique for those wanting to learn more than the standard deliverable “Cat & Genny” training commonly available.

The Building Solutions Zone

A dedicated excavator with a machine control installation situated on top of a large sand pit, provides real-world environment for comprehensive training and demonstrations in a safe dig zone.

The Arena

A tailored 9000m2 sand area perfect for dozer, excavator and grader demonstration and training with no digging depth or drainage issues, the site is always ready and can be utilsed throughout the year.

There are two onsite training cabins for people to understand the theory before getting hands on experience with the machinery in a safe and controlled environment.
A large viewing platform on top of one training cabin allows those watching live demonstrations to see the entire arena.

Surveying Equipment

As technology advances rapidly, demonstrations and trials of instruments allow people to understand what is possible and how they may fit into current workflows. This exposure across all surveying equipment helps identify what other solutions and workflows are accessible and of benefit.
