Smartnet North America Expands Full GNSS Capability by Adding Support for Galileo and Beidou
With one billion acres of coverage at more than 70% full GNSS capability, SmartNet North America provides high-precision, high-availability network RTK corrections in a broad range of environments, including forest canopy and urban canyons.
(NORCROSS, GA, June 28, 2017) - SmartNet North America (www.smartnetna.com), the industry-leading high-precision, high-availability network RTK correction service, today announced it has added support for the Galileo and BeiDou constellations as well as the GPS-L5 signal through investments in infrastructure and software. As a fully GNSS capable network using GPS, GLONASS, and now Galileo and BeiDou observations, SmartNet enables professionals to increase productivity when operating in environments with obstructions, like forest canopy or urban canyons.
Access to the Galileo and BeiDou constellations along with GPS-L5 signals provides higher availability in difficult environments while improving the overall integrity of the solution. Professionals in surveying, construction, machine control, GIS and precision farming benefit from an open-standard service that can be used with any GNSS device and is constantly monitored for integrity, availability and accuracy.
SmartNet North America maintains more than 1,300 stations providing GNSS coverage in 44 states and 8 provinces. The service now covers one billion acres at more than 70% full GNSS capability.
"Fast, precise positioning is critical to improving productivity, and that requires increased satellite visibility,” said Wendy Watson, director of Reference Station Operations. “As a result of our expansion and sizeable investments in hardware to upgrade our infrastructure to GNSS, SmartNet North America continues to lead the way in being available to all users in any constellation."
