Leica Geosystems reveals new software-based and AI-enabled solutions

(Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 19 September 2024) – Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, today announced the launch of the new Leica iCON trades solution designed to enable customers to harness the transformative power of accurate data in interior finishing and digital templating. The solution includes application-tailored software paired with the Leica iCON iCS20 and iCS50 sensors.

Leica iCON trades prioritises ease of use and precision from start to finish. The workflow is customised for carpenters, kitchen and stair builders, metal workers, stonemasons and glaziers and covers the entire measurement and templating process in interior construction and finishing, both in 2D and 3D.

Combining the Leica iCON trades solution with the groundbreaking Leica vPen enables measuring of contours and geometries of all levels of complexity – from kitchen counters and cabinets to sloping walls, narrow and difficult-to-reach spaces and hidden points. Thanks to 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) technology, to this date exclusive to high-precision industrial measurement workflows, Leica iCON trades measures with the highest precision on any material, including glass and glossy surfaces. When measuring spaces and objects, users benefit from automatic relocation, flexible laser distance measurements and efficient line and area scans.

With the Leica iCON trades solution, customers can confidently access high-quality data in:

  • Interior finishing – Create as-built drawings and export data for further processing in CAD or directly into production. The set-up is quick, the automatic functions (set-up, self-levelling, relocation, scanning and marking) provide easy measurement, and the wireless vPen makes inaccessible places accessible.
  • Digital templating – Ensure a fast, seamless workflow from capturing 2D and 3D measurement data to completing drawings and transferring CNC-ready files directly to production, providing the highest accuracy for materials based on as-is measurements, with greater efficiency than ever before.

“Both workflows eliminate manual and error-prone measurements, reduce waste and rework, and improve efficiency on site. Leica iCON trades will speed up interior finishing and digital templating workflows while providing high-precision fit to fulfil professional requirements. With this groundbreaking solution, we bring innovation and value to customers, replacing traditional and analogue measurement techniques,” says Agata Fischer, President of Building Field Solutions at Hexagon’s Geosystems division.

The AI-enabled technology solves today’s customer challenges in interior finishing and digital templating. Computational photography provides the next level of imagery and photorealistic site documentation, enabling the 6DoF technology, now accessible to everyone in construction, to unlock numerous transformative use cases previously deemed impossible.
