Due to their continued growth and further demand from new and existing clients, Castle Surveys invested in two Leica RTC360 3D laser scanners, as well as two Leica TS16 total stations. This investment will allow them to rapidly capture even more geospatial data on site. along with increasing efficiency and workflows.

Castle Surveys utilised their new equipment fleet to carry out a Measured Building Survey of three of their clients’ units. To reduce the impact on the client’s production line, their team were given just one day to complete the survey work, whilst also adhering to a strict one ways systems due to a COVID safe workplace. Speed and accuracy were essential to complete the job on time and within tolerance.

The RTC360 3D reality capture solution empowered the Castle Surveys team to document and capture their environments in 3D, improving efficiency and productivity in the field. Highly portable, highly automated, intuitive and designed for maximum productivity, the RTC360 solution efficiently combined the RTC360 a high-performance 3D laser scanner, Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile-device app for edge computing for automatically registering scans in real time, and Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 office software to integrate 3D models seamlessly into their workflows.

The TS16 automated total station allowed the team to capture accurate data when and where they needed it throughout the project. The station was used to create digital reality for mapping: control point measurements, adjustments, computations, and data collection with powerful coding and line work routines. The quick and reliable monitoring of locations, buildings, and objects in real-time in any environment proved to be perfect for Castle Surveys campaign monitoring and scaling up to an automated monitoring solution.

Since demoing the RTC360, Castle Surveys have purchased an additional three units to add to their survey 3D laser scanning fleet, along with associated software. The RTC360 proved to be a real game changer, allowing Castle Surveys to capture more data in a shorter space of time. Its user friendliness allowed a visual representation of what the team had scanned, and their surveyors can be trained quickly, allowing more surveys to be carried out.
