Leica iCON build: Foundations

Digital construction apps for positioning and pouring concrete piles and slabs for building foundations

Leica iCON build for foundations, showing concrete being poured on a reinforced steal frame and two construction workers behind a Leica iCON robotic total station.

As a concrete contractor, your foundation work is critical to the success of any building construction project. However, relying only on manual methods doesn’t allow you to optimise your expert workflow. With Leica iCON’s digital construction tools, bring productivity and accuracy to the next level within the processes you already use, finishing work faster with less rework and material waste. iCON build workflows for building foundations enable you to layout and pour piles and slabs quicker and more accurately, complete easy checks to ensure confidence along the way, and create reports to prove your results.

Digitally define the points you need

When digital drawings don’t include or make it hard to find the points you need, the Sketching app provides digital construction tools to adapt CAD designs to your work, allowing you to create points, lines, arcs, and circles in seconds. Additionally, fix incomplete data, immediately respond to site changes, and quickly input elements to speed time to layout and position with confidence.

Pour the right amount in the right place

Ensuring you pour the right amount of concrete in the right place is crucial for foundation work, but accuracy is difficult with string lines and offset grid lines laid out on busy sites. The Layout Points app allows you to shift from these imprecise manual methods to faster digital point navigation using visual guidance with colour codes that indicate point quality and provide assurance. Additionally, easily layout offsets, anchor bolt patterns, and check the finished foundation elevation - all while integrated tolerance checks increase precision. With the Layout Lines app, layout control lines, parallels, perpendiculars or arcs and apply offsets, allowing you to align columns, and define slab edges and boundaries quickly and easily.

Quickly check before and after you pour

Checking work throughout the foundation pouring process is crucial for minimising rework and material waste. With the Checks app, ensure the accuracy of areas, perimeters, and angles in 2D and 3D before you pour. Compute the amount of concrete you’ll need with the box volume feature, making more exact estimates for less waste and lower costs. After pouring concrete, check deviations against the design with the point to line function and quickly access all your results on the easy-to-read info panel.

Prove and report layout accuracy

Provide a clear record of the work you’ve done and the layout accuracy you achieved with the Report and Export functionalities. Show how well the reality represents the design, export as-laid and as-built positions to design teams for updates, and minimise rework for the trades coming after - all as an easy and integrated extension to your building foundation workflow.
