What do you like most about working with us?
One of the aspects I appreciate most about working at Hexagon Geosystems is the fact that we are building products from conception to completion, being responsible of both the hardware and the software. Moreover, I think Hexagon Geosystems provides a good work-life balance that allows me to engage deeply with interesting problems alongside like-minded, passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the opportunity to enjoy the great landscapes of the Rhine Valley during my time off is a wonderful perk!

What makes working in your department particularly exciting?
Working in the Reality Capture department is particularly exciting because of the challenging problems we tackle. We have the chance to apply cutting-edge machine learning and computer vision techniques to improve our products. The department's focus on innovation ensures that we're always exploring new ideas and methodologies.

How was your onboarding experience? Did it meet your expectations?
During my onboarding experience at Hexagon Geosystems I received an exhaustive overview of my department’s product portfolio, which provided me with a clear understanding of the main areas we operate in. This thorough introduction was invaluable, as it helped me quickly identify where my skills in machine learning could be most effectively applied to improve our products.

What would you say to someone considering applying to Hexagon's Geosystems Division?

What do you personally appreciate most about your work with us?
As a software engineer, I appreciate the opportunity to work with experts from many different disciplines in the same historic location. Continuing Leica’s legacy of creating high-tech devices that many professionals depend on adds an additional layer of motivation to the day-to-day software engineering. I am especially happy to be on this journey with a friendly and supportive group of colleagues.

What makes Hexagon's Geosystems Division different from other employers?
Hexagon's Geosystems Division provides the opportunity to work on ambitious projects in an interdisciplinary environment: Working with experts in many fields, from embedded software powering the sensors all the way to feature-rich desktop software for analyzing and editing data, fosters growth and creativity.

What are the biggest benefits you experience as an employee here?
The flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely 3 days a week allow me to keep a healthy work-life balance, especially in the winter: I appreciate being able to go for a run in the afternoon while the sun is still up and finishing work in the evening from home.

What freedoms or opportunities for personal development do you have with us?
When I was assigned a new role, I was given many of opportunities for personal development. This included access to many training sessions around communication, leadership, and teamwork. These training programs have not only helped me grow professionally, but they have also contributed to my personal growth by boosting my confidence and adaptability. Additionally, these opportunities have allowed me to meet colleagues facing similar challenges inside the organisation!

What tips do you have for applicants to integrate well into the team and the company culture?
Get involved! In my experience, another point of view is always appreciated, so share your ideas or concerns – you might be surprised what that may lead to! I talked about the wish for a music room – a place for music-minded colleagues to play music together – to my line manager, and within some weeks, a room was prepared!
