Leica Geosystems to present at INTERGEO
Leica Geosystems, as part of Hexagon, will once again present at INTERGEO, the world’s leading conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, starting Sept. 15-17 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The leader in measurement technology will take part in both the conference and trade fair, featuring complete solutions on the show floor and participating in presentations at the forum.
Where Big Data is taking the industry
There will be three Hexagon presentations during the forum:
1. Geospatial Information – A Key Element for Emerging Markets
Wednesday, Sept 16, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Ola Rollén, Hexagon CEO, will join Chris Cappelli, Esri CEO, and Steve Berglund, Trimble CEO, in a panel discussion led by Bengt Kjellison of the United Nations Initiative on Global Geospatial Information Management to discuss the global significance of geoinformation.
2. From the Sky into the Cloud
Wednesday, Sept. 16, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
On-demand access to vast amounts of services and content has become a way of life. Owning books, movies, music, even cars, is quickly becoming an idea of the past. In today’s sharing and crowdsourcing society, everything we need and want is available remotely through a simple online search, including professional airborne imagery. With current technology opening previously guarded content to the masses through cloud computing, today’s consumer society is moving from a purchased-and-owned service to a more cost efficient pay-per-use service. Join John Welter, president of Leica Geosystems Geospatial Solutions Division, as he shares how the Hexagon Imagery Program, or HxIP, is taking the geospatial industry into this new model of business. He will explain how HxIP is providing all professionals unlimited access to quality airborne imagery, transforming the dynamic of an entire industry.
3. Big Data – Even Bigger Answers
Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2-3:30 p.m.
Over the years, organizations and agencies across the world have approved budgets to spend millions of dollars on content. The rise of big data across the geospatial sector has created tremendous challenges for organizations that own volumes of earth-based information. With all this data, organizations often struggle to implement strategies to intelligently utilize the data they collect to facilitate smarter decision making. We need to unlock the power of geospatial big data to make investments worthwhile. Actionable intelligence requires real information – not just data. Organizations must understand what data they have, how to access it, what it can be used for, how to transform it and how to deliver it in new ways – no longer as data, but as answers to mission-critical problems. Join Mladen Stojic, Hexagon Geospatial president, as he describes how geospatial availability plus analytics are key to unlocking the potential within geospatial big data. He will explore how to effectively solve the big data problem, including how to quickly marshal and direct solutions and applications to the right content source to drive the delivery of real-time geospatial information services.

Calling all National Mapping and Cadastre Authorities
Hexagon Geosystems and Hexagon Geospatial will host a summit dedicated to national mapping agencies and cadastre authorities Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1-3:30 p.m. at INTERGEO 2015. The summit, entitled Shaping the Geospatial Process within Cadastre and National Mapping Authorities, will feature keynote speaker Ingrid Vanden Berghe, president of EUROGEOGRAPHICS, who will provide her views on the future of national mapping. Other presentations include insights from the Ordnance Survey of Ireland (OSI), Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC), Danish Geodata Agency and IBM Denmark.
During the summit, case studies will be presented of how Hexagon solutions were used by other government agencies in different regions like Western Europe and North Africa. An open forum will then be held for questions and answers and to receive feedback on how Hexagon can best support these entities.
