New plugin download page tools for connecting Autodesk Civil 3D or Revit directly
How smooth is your dataflow between the field and office and back again? Do you want to improve dataflow between a Leica Geosystems field solution with an Autodesk solution? If you are using Leica Captivate or iCON build in the field, this blog could be useful for you.
New Plugin Download Page
Leica Geosystems offers two useful software plugins for Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civil3D offering a simple dataflow between field and office. Since 2014 both tools can be downloaded for free via Leica myWorld. Now the plugins are easily available through this Leica Geosystems download page:
www.leica-geosystems.com/software-plugins
The first plugin is Leica Infrastructure Link for Autodesk Civil 3D
Leica Infrastructure Link facilitates direct dataflow between Civil 3D and all Leica field equipment, running Leica Captivate or Leica iCON build field software. With the plugin it is possible to extract alignments, corridors and surfaces from within Civil3D. Points, Lines, Areas, DTMs and Road Designs can then be easily transferred to the instrument and used in the field.
The second plugin is Leica Building Link for Autodesk Revit
Leica Building Link enables direct data transfer from Autodesk Revit to Leica Captivate or Leica iCON build field software. The plugin allows the creation of stakeout point lists within Revit. Based on Revit's family function, multiple points can be generated automatically. Additionally, data can be enriched with codes and attributes. Working with codes and attributes facilitates and speeds up data handling when doing export and also when laying out in the field. With Leica Building Link the points then can be exported from Revit and directly uploaded to the field equipment.
Easy data transfer back to the office
Once the fieldwork is complete, the export of measurement data from Captivate or iCON build back to Autodesk is just as easy as the import. The plugins facilitate the transfer of data - such as topographic survey, field measurements, as-built-checks or layout reports - back to the office.
HeXML format - Data exchange without quality loss
Both tools use HeXML (short for Hexagon XML) for import and export. The HeXML format extends the LandXML format with additional information, which is relevant for the data exchange in a geospatial environment. It allows more information to be moved between the office and field in an elegant and efficient way. HeXML is fully supported within Leica Captivate and Leica iCON solutions.
