The Leica Captivate Tunnel app is divided into two parts, one that offers tasks for staking out a tunnel design and one for checking stages of constructed tunnel or providing tunnel as-builts using the tunnel alignment and defined tunnel profile information. This ensures you have the right digital tool for your tunnel survey tasks across the tunnel construction lifecycle.
Tunnel face excavation and profile scanning analysis
The Leica Captivate Tunnel app was designed with features to make tunnel-specific tasks easier and more efficient. For example:
- Reference the tunnel design to stake faces of the tunnel during excavation using fully automated and iterative routines.
- Wriggle bored tunnels with a check tunnel axis routine that calculates a best fit as built and also assesses radials for squat.
- Orient the drilling rig and automatically apply drill patterns when drilling holes parallel to the tunnel axis direction.
- Scan tunnel profiles at defined chainages and visualise areas of underbreak and overbreak.
Captivate Quick Tip
When using a Leica MS60 MultiStation, you can check as-built specifications for a tunnel by scanning a tunnel slice between chainages of the alignment. The scanned point cloud can then be compared to the tunnel design or a previously scanned version of the same area of the tunnel to measure progress. This allows getting accurate on-site information of the current status of the tunnel construction.
