Improvements to Leica iCON telematics solution help earthmoving companies monitor machine utilisation
Easy-to-understand interface of new Leica
iCON telematics utilisation module.
Construction company management, such as project managers, foremen or operational managers, want better control of their earthmoving projects. Measuring and reducing the downtime of heavy machines keeps companies within budget and avoids excessive costs, unnecessary overtime or wasted time due to poorly allocated resources.
The new Leica MCH100 hardware and the Utilisation web page module from Leica iCON telematics provide a solution to optimise managing earth moving equipment. This simple solution monitors and measures the real-time location and activity of any machine on site. Companies can plan their project schedules and monitor that the equipment is being utilised as planned. Productivity can be measured and compared with other projects, allowing organisations to maintain and improve their standard level of performance and keep their competitive edge. Built with construction in mind, the Leica MCH100 device is rugged, easy to set up, supports Wi-Fi and 2G/3G/4G cellular connectivity and there is little training required to get started. The device supports a wireless integration with Leica Geosystems 3D machine control systems or can be installed as a stand-alone unit to monitor any heavy machine.
“The new MCH100 hardware is an excellent complement to the Leica Geosystems Machine Control product portfolio. We can now give our customers direct insight into how their earth moving machines are being utilised on construction projects, giving them the information that they need to keep projects on time and within budget,” says Doug Eggert, product manager at Leica Geosystems.
