Shaping change at INTERGEO

INTERGEO

If you take a look around the business world today, you will begin to see the evolution of connectivity. Solutions are being created every day from several industries instead of just the traditional method of looking at one's own field. Car makers are using LiDAR for self-driving, public safety officials rely on geospatial technology to keep communities safe, and construction professionals trust laser scanning to keep projects on time and within budget.

At Hexagon, our technology is connecting many industry sectors to create such solutions and help change how industries interact and operate. Nowhere is this on such display as the world's largest geospatial trade show and conference - INTERGEO 2016. I'm in Hamburg, Germany, this week for INTERGEO, and I'm looking forward to seeing how industries come together with a common purpose - supporting professionals who are shaping remarkable change around the world with geospatial advancements.

Finding solutions in change

That change is where we find solutions. There's no denying the world is changing at a rapid pace, and the industries we serve are on the front lines making this change happen day in and day out.

INTERGEO's theme this year, Knowledge and Action for Plant Earth, is ideal for the dialogue we as an industry as a whole need to have.

With this platform, we can discuss and share ideas about the change we need to implement. From digitalising businesses to incubating an ecosystem of connection between geospatial data to bringing project professionals from different disciplines together with one software interface, INTERGEO is the perfect gathering to bring these conversations to the forefront.

How Hexagon is shaping change at INTERGEO

Hexagon's solutions support multiple sources of content coupled with innovative apps and on-premise enterprise solutions that change the way we communicate meaningful analytics and connect businesses. They not only display the world as it is, but model the world as it should be. At INTERGEO, these solutions will be on full display.

In Hall A3 at the Hexagon Booth, you will find geospatial advancements from new mapping apps to self-learning GNSS. Represented by the businesses of Leica Geosystems, Hexagon Geospatial, Intergraph PP&M and Aibotix with support from Germany-based channel partner Geosystems GmbH, Hexagon will focus on reality capture solutions that are connecting the digital world with the real world throughout multiple industries.

Take for example smart cities. Bringing diverse professionals together, governments strive to provide more integrated information infrastructure in order to improve how citizens live and city assets are managed. Hexagon Geospatial's Smart M.Apps solution will show visitors how incidents are visualised and analysed so city managers can make faster and better informed decisions. Leica Geosystems' CityMapper, the world's first fused imaging and LiDAR sensor, will be on display where visitors can experience new efficiency levels to create digital city models for future proof city planning.

Hexagon will feature the asset management solution of combining Mobile MapWorks software and the Leica Zeno 20 GIS data collector to accurately and quickly locate city assets, such as street lights for efficient inspections. Along with asset capture, Aibotix will share new features for simplified data capture in its aerial robotic solutions.

Hexagon will also participate in the dialogue of change during the forum of INTERGEO. Hexagon BIM Manager Cathi Hayes will introduce HxGN SMART Build, Hexagon's new construction progress management solution. Hexagon's SMART Build solution increases construction efficiency, and reduces costs and risks by combining two Hexagon business offerings - the proven information management of Intergraph PP&M plus the leading measurement solutions of Leica Geosystems. Integrating all stakeholders on a construction project and removing information silos, HxGN SMART Build is a fully cloud-based solution.

Other presentations will include future-looking discussions about intelligent survey solutions with new self learning GNSS technology and mobile reality capture solutions that create street views above and below ground. Leica Geosystems is also hosting a Technology Track on the latest innovations in airborne mapping, laser scanning and monitoring.

As the Greek philosopher Heraclitus famously said "There is nothing permanent except change," and we must be willing to change to progress and connect. I look forward to welcoming you at INTERGEO and hearing how you are exploring change, how you are progressing and connecting, in your own business.
